Oh the things you'll find in the Italian grocery store

There's a new mall that opened here a couple weeks ago - - hmm... looks like it's partly a Simon mall, interesting! Anyway, we went and did a little walk around last weekend, and spent a lot of time in the grocery store, checking out the stuff the Italians feed their babies. Have a look!

I think this is chocolate-flavored formula. I could be wrong, though, and it could just be like the Nestle stuff.

Mozzarella baby food!

I'm not sure what this is, but it comes in both chicken and sheep.

Horse!!! You can get horse in the form of baby food. Crazy!! Oh, and to the left, the "Verdure Miste" is mixed vegetables, I think.

Cow and pig. Yum-O!

This is some kind of mint-flavored fennel. I think they mix it with water and it's supposed to help with sleep.

Here's some other stuff you can buy...

This guy was making fresh mozzarella cheese.

Seafood buffet!

You know how we have the dispensers for candy? They have them for pasta!! Too cool!!

Amelia's First Easter Egg Hunt

We had a little pep talk, we stretched, and we got ready to beat all of the other 0-1 year old babies to those precious Easter eggs. How'd we make out? Two eggs! Go baby girl!

She started off by walking to the eggs...

And then I tilted her over to pick up the egg, but she thought the grass would be more fun than the egg to play with. Silly!

She honestly could not care less about the bright, colorful eggs, but had a great time brushing the grass, pushing it down, and just feeling it. It was cute!

After we got home, I got some pictures of her in her egg hunting get-up.

On Easter Sunday, we went over to a friend's house for brunch. I bought Amelia's outfit last year when I was still pregnant, and all the Spring stuff was on sale, thinking I was ahead of the game. That would have worked if Amelia was a fat baby, but since she's little, her dress was a little huge. Oh well, she was still pretty stinkin' cute, even with her tongue hanging out. Ha!

Absent, but for a good reason!

Sorry for the three-week lapse in posting. Token, Amelia and I flew back to Indiana for two weeks!!! It went way too fast, - as it always does - but Amelia was able to meet Great Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, a Grandpa, and a bunch of other admirers for the first time!

She seems to have taken a big leap in development, too. She regularly rolls from front to back, and she also started walking! Check it out!

We started her on solids when we got back to Sicily. We did oatmeal for three days and then today she had avocado for the first time. She wasn't that much of a fan, but I've read that a baby has to try something at least 10 times before they decide they don't like it, so it's avocado again tomorrow! On Sunday, we'll do bananas, then on Wednesday, we'll do carrots, and then three days later, pears. This is fun!
Open wide...
Hmm... I don't know what to think of this...

Let me get a better taste...

I like it! (the first bite, that is. She made some icky faces after the following spoonfuls!)
